Digital Doctor is designed for adults with common minor symptoms. There are many situations where it is not safe or appropriate to use this platform. In these situations, you should consult a doctor or seek urgent care.
Emergency Situations — Seek Urgent Care Immediately
- Chest pain or severe breathing difficulty
- Collapse, loss of consciousness, or severe drowsiness
- Weakness or numbness of one side of the body
- Sudden severe headache or speech difficulty
- Seizure or convulsion
- Severe allergic reaction
- Poisoning or suspected drug overdose
- Severe or uncontrolled bleeding
- Rapidly worsening illness of any kind
Situations Beyond Digital Doctor's Scope — Consult a Doctor
- Children and adolescents below 18 years
- Pregnant patients — any symptom during pregnancy
- Severe uncontrolled chronic disease (uncontrolled diabetes, heart failure, kidney failure)
- Immunocompromised patients (cancer treatment, HIV, immunosuppressants)
- Symptoms that have persisted much longer than expected for a minor illness
- Recurrent or repeatedly returning unexplained symptoms
- Symptoms that require physical examination to assess safely
- Symptoms that require blood tests, urine tests, or imaging
- Inability to drink or keep fluids down
- Symptoms you feel are serious or unusual for you
Other Situations Not Covered
- Mental health emergencies or psychiatric crises
- Major injuries or trauma
- Possible poisoning or chemical exposure
- Severe dehydration (unable to drink, very dark urine, sunken eyes)
- Eye, ear, or dental emergencies
- Complex multi-system illness
- Symptoms in a setting of known serious infection (e.g. tuberculosis, HIV-related illness)
